Nilo Katalano (1637-1694) ishte studiues dhe kontribues p\u00ebr p\u00ebrhapje e gjuh\u00ebs shqipe.<\/p>\n

Lindi n\u00eb rrethinat e Mesin\u00ebs af\u00ebr Sicilis\u00eb. Q\u00eb n\u00eb mosh\u00ebn 22-vje\u00e7are nisi jet\u00ebn murgare n\u00eb manastirin e njohur t\u00eb Grotaferrat\u00ebs pran\u00eb Rom\u00ebs, ku punuan e studiuan arb\u00ebresh\u00eb t\u00eb njohur. Atje m\u00ebsoi edhe greqishten e re dhe t\u00eb vjetr\u00ebn; me sa duket edhe shqipen. N\u00eb Mezzoiuso (Munxifsi), fshat arb\u00ebresh, praktikoi shqipen mes viteve \u201960 t\u00eb shek. XVII. Mbas nj\u00eb \u00e7erek shekulli rikthehet n\u00eb at\u00eb komunitet arb\u00ebresh.
\nMe librat e botuar deri n\u00eb at\u00eb koh\u00eb m\u00ebsoi shqipen e shkruar t\u00eb dialektit verior. Kjo i krijoi mund\u00ebsin\u00eb t\u00eb dalloj\u00eb qart\u00eb afrin\u00eb mes dy dialekteve. Jeta shkencore e murgare e p\u00ebrgatiti Catalano-n p\u00ebr misionin bazilian t\u00eb Himar\u00ebs. Nga papa mori titullin e lart\u00eb t\u00eb peshkopit t\u00eb Durr\u00ebsit (1693). Po at\u00eb vit filloi misionin n\u00eb Himar\u00eb. Predikoi edhe n\u00eb zonat n\u00eb brend\u00ebsi t\u00eb vendit, deri n\u00eb Ku\u00e7 e Zhulat, ku zgjerohej kjo krahin\u00eb. N\u00eb krye t\u00eb misionit \u00e7eli shkolla n\u00eb t\u00eb cilat m\u00ebsohej shqip doktrina e krishter\u00eb, fillimisht n\u00eb Dh\u00ebrmi, ku vinin nx\u00ebn\u00ebs edhe nga thell\u00ebsia e Lab\u00ebris\u00eb, madje edhe nga Vithkuqi i Kor\u00e7\u00ebs. M\u00ebsoheshin edhe l\u00ebnd\u00eb reale si aritmetika etj. Vdiq dhe u varros n\u00eb Dh\u00ebrmi.
\nNga Catalano mbeti nj\u00eb fjalor dor\u00ebshkrim shqip-italisht e italisht-shqip,\u00a0Vocabolario albanese \u2013 italiano ed italiano \u2013 albanese,\u00a0<\/em>shkruar, sipas tradit\u00ebs s\u00eb at\u00ebhershme t\u00eb botimeve shqipe, me alfabetin e Veriut. Dy veprat nuk njihen drejtp\u00ebrdrejt nga studiuesit e sot\u00ebm. Dor\u00ebshkrimet mbas nj\u00eb rruge t\u00eb gjat\u00eb, i pati n\u00eb bibliotek\u00ebn e tij edhe Zef Skiroi. Sot ndodhen n\u00eb Universitetin e Kozenc\u00ebs. U pasuan nga nj\u00eb\u00a0Sprov\u00eb gramatike e shqipes me pjes\u00eb nga Bogdani, poezi arb\u00ebreshe etj<\/em>., me r\u00ebnd\u00ebsi p\u00ebr gjurm\u00ebt e para t\u00eb gramatologjis\u00eb dhe leksikografis\u00eb shqiptare. Citohet dhe p\u00ebrshkruhet ende sipas t\u00eb dh\u00ebnave t\u00eb t\u00ebrthorta. Gramatika i sh\u00ebrbeu p\u00ebr shkoll\u00ebn shqipe t\u00eb Himar\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

Veprimtaria pastorale dhe ekumenike e Catalano-s p\u00ebrfundoi me vdekjen e tij n\u00eb maj t\u00eb vitit 1694. Trupi i tij u varros me pranin\u00eb e t\u00eb gjith\u00eb prift\u00ebrinjve t\u00eb zon\u00ebs n\u00eb kish\u00ebn e sh\u00ebn Thanasit, ku ai kishte sh\u00ebrbyer p\u00ebr gjith\u00eb ato vite.
