Shkrimi n\u00eb gjuh\u00ebn fr\u00ebnge i gjeografit Charles Rabot \u2018Num\u00ebrimi i popullsis\u00eb q\u00eb flet shqip, frengjisht, greqisht, sllovenisht dhe gjermanisht n\u00eb mbret\u00ebrin\u00eb e Italis\u00eb\u2019, 1903 \u2013 i mb\u00ebshtetur po ashtu n\u00eb pun\u00ebn e M. H. Raseri, t\u00eb publikuar n\u00eb vitin 1902 n\u00eb \u2018Bulletin international de l\u2019Institut de la statistique\u2019, Rom\u00eb \u2013 na sjell disa t\u00eb dh\u00ebna interesante mbi komunitetin shqiptar (arb\u00ebresh).<\/p>\n

Num\u00ebrimi \u00ebsht\u00eb kryer me 10 shkurt t\u00eb 1901 (40 vite m\u00eb von\u00eb se censusi i 1861), i cili klasifikon popullsit\u00eb sipas gjuh\u00ebs q\u00eb p\u00ebrdornin n\u00eb jet\u00ebn e p\u00ebrditshme.<\/p>\n

Sipas k\u00ebtij censusi, 252 600 banor\u00eb ose 58 208 familje, t\u00eb cilat banonin n\u00eb 178 komuna, nuk p\u00ebrdornin italishten si gjuh\u00eb komunikimi. Si rrjedhim, komuniteti shqiptar renditej i pari, i ndjekur nga francez\u00ebt, grek\u00ebt, slloven\u00ebt, gjerman\u00ebt dhe katalanasit. Gjuha shqipe flitej n\u00eb 21 564 familje ose prej 90 000 individ\u00ebsh t\u00eb shp\u00ebrndar\u00eb gjeografikisht n\u00eb 47 komuna t\u00eb Italis\u00eb jugore dhe t\u00eb Si\u00e7ilis\u00eb.<\/p>\n

N\u00eb distriktin e Cozenca-s, n\u00eb Kalabri, shqiptar\u00ebt formonin nj\u00eb grup t\u00eb konsoliduar.<\/p>\n

Jetonin aty 9 251 familje (pothuajse 39 000 individ\u00eb) t\u00eb vendosur n\u00eb qytezat e:
\nCastrovillar : 5 253 familje n\u00eb 16 komuna
\nRossano-s : 2 053 familje n\u00eb 5 komuna
\nCosenza-s : 1 569 familje n\u00eb 4 komuna
\nPaola-s : 484 familje n\u00eb nj\u00eb komun\u00eb<\/p>\n

N\u00eb 17 prej 26 komunave t\u00eb distriktit t\u00eb Cosenza-s, shqiptar\u00ebt p\u00ebrb\u00ebnin 2\/3 ose t\u00eb gjith\u00eb popullsin\u00eb e k\u00ebtyre zonave lokale. Nd\u00ebrsa n\u00eb distriktin e Catanzaro-s, i cili ndodhet n\u00eb Kalabrin\u00eb veriore, jetonin 1 543 familje q\u00eb flisnin shqip, ose pothuajse 6 570 individ\u00eb t\u00eb shp\u00ebrndar\u00eb n\u00eb 6 komuna (tre n\u00eb qytezat e Catanzaro-s, dy n\u00eb Cotrone dhe nj\u00eb n\u00eb Nicastro).<\/p>\n

Pra, n\u00eb Kalabri formohej komuniteti m\u00eb i madh i popullsis\u00eb q\u00eb fliste shqip n\u00eb Itali. Gjithsesi kishte komunitete shqiptare t\u00eb izoluara gjeografikisht n\u00eb disa provinca t\u00eb tjera jugore, si p\u00ebr shembull : 55 familje n\u00eb Abruzzes, 2 121 n\u00eb Molise, 886 n\u00eb Campanie, 2 530 n\u00eb Basilicate dhe 3 290 n\u00eb Si\u00e7ili.
\nK\u00ebto 8 882 familje banonin n\u00eb 27 komuna, nd\u00ebr t\u00eb cilat 14 ishin t\u00eb t\u00ebra ose pothuajse t\u00eb t\u00ebra shqiptare, nd\u00ebrsa 13 t\u00eb p\u00ebrziera, ku dominonte gjuha italiane.<\/p>\n

\u2018K\u00ebta shqiptar\u00eb kan\u00eb emigruar n\u00eb Itali n\u00eb shekullin XV dhe XVI\u2019. Kuptohet se autori e ka fjal\u00ebn p\u00ebr arb\u00ebresh\u00ebt. Ai shton se q\u00eb nga ajo koh\u00eb, shqiptar\u00ebt kan\u00eb ruajtur me devotshm\u00ebri, jo vet\u00ebm gjuh\u00ebn e tyre, por edhe traditat, k\u00ebng\u00ebt e tyre komb\u00ebtare, madje edhe kostumet, si\u00e7 e kan\u00eb konstatuar dhe vet\u00eb turist\u00ebt, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt kan\u00eb vizituar fshatin e bukur shqiptar t\u00eb Piana dei Greci, i cili ndodhet n\u00eb hyrje t\u00eb Palermos. Sipas num\u00ebrimit t\u00eb vitit 1861, n\u00eb Itali jetonin 55 443 shqiptar\u00eb. Sipas autorit, mendohet se ky num\u00ebrim nuk \u00ebsht\u00eb realizuar i t\u00ebri, prandaj n\u00eb vitin 1901 numri i shqiptar\u00ebve del m\u00eb i lart\u00eb. N\u00eb tjet\u00ebr faktor shpjegues \u00ebsht\u00eb dhe shkalla e lart\u00eb e fertilitetit tek popullsia shqiptare.<\/p>\n
